# Star data licence

`bright-stars.js` is a derived subset of the **HYG Database v4.1** by David Nash,
The Astronomy Nexus (https://astronexus.com/projects/hyg), taken from
`hyg/CURRENT/hygdata_v41.csv` at https://github.com/astronexus/HYG-Database,
commit `3bf37f4b2d5460e1278286320d1d62fab9b493c1` (17 Aug 2024).

The HYG Database is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0
International License (CC BY-SA 4.0): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

**This derived data file is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.** It applies to the star
data only, not to Wonder's source code.

Changes made: filtered to visual magnitude 6.5 or brighter, Sun removed, right
ascension converted from hours to degrees, sorted brightest first, missing colour
index set to 0.6, and reduced to position, magnitude, colour index, Harvard
Revised number, proper name and constellation.

Nexus, CC BY-SA 4.0."

Note: HYG compiles the Hipparcos, Yale Bright Star and Gliese catalogues. The HYG
licence is the publisher's grant; HYG makes no separate statement about rights in
those underlying catalogues.
