Wonder is built on open data about the real Earth. These are the sources, their licences and how Wonder changed them. The map inside the game also names its own sources.

Sky sources and attribution

Star data: HYG v4.1 by David Nash / The Astronomy Nexus, CC BY-SA 4.0.

Adapted for Wonder: 8,920 stars of visual magnitude 6.5 or brighter (the naked-eye limit); Sun excluded. Coordinates converted to degrees, stars sorted by brightness, fields selected and missing colour values filled. The modified data is also CC BY-SA 4.0; this does not change the game's source-code licence. Attribution and modification details.

Milky Way: The Milky Way panorama, ESO/S. Brunier, CC BY 4.0. Adapted for Wonder: two photographed planets painted out, resized to 2048 by 1024 and projected onto the sky by galactic coordinates. Attribution and modification details.

Sun and Moon directions follow your location and the real date. Their discs are enlarged for visibility. Clear, mixed and grey skies are generated daily moods, not a weather forecast.
